In winter, snow and ice can often cause annoying blockages in gutters. The eTRACE-30CHT constant heating tape from Etherma helps out here. It is ideal for heating box gutters. The tape is laid flat in the gutter and effectively prevents the formation of snow tunnels. It consists of a soft-elastic, insulated tape element with a silicone coating. This heating tape complies with VDE regulations and has a soldered resistance wire. Optimum contact between the heating tape and the gutter is required for the most cost-efficient gutter heating possible. Please note that constant heating tapes should not be installed in plastic gutters and drains. The nominal temperature of the heating tape is +200 °C, the minimum installation temperature is -60 °C and the bending radius is 25 mm. The tape is CE-compliant, can be shortened every 60 cm and has a maximum heating circuit length of 58 m at a current rating of 16 A. Heating tapes are mainly used in metal box gutters, but can also be used in other rainwater gutters.

Help for planning gutter heating
- For standard gutters, a heating output of up to 30 W/m is recommended up to an altitude of 1000 m. For box gutters, the heating output per meter is calculated as follows:
- Multiply the width of the gutter (in meters) by 250 W.
- Example: For a gutter with a width of 24 cm (0.24 m), the result is: 0.24 x 250 W = 60 W.
- This corresponds to the use of two heating strips, each with 30 W/m.
