Danger from above: Why roof heating makes sense

Winter presents buildings with two major challenges:

• Weight (snow load): Wet snow is extremely heavy. On large flat roofs (warehouses, carports), this can compromise the structural integrity. A roof heating system melts the snow before the critical weight is reached.
• Ice backup: When meltwater cannot drain from a frozen gutter, it backs up under the roof tiles. The result: water damage to the masonry and mold growth inside. Furthermore, dangerous icicles form, which can injure passersby.

Roof heating mats for flat roofs (industrial and commercial)

For businesses, our heating mats are an economical insurance policy against business interruptions. Instead of having the roof manually (and dangerously) cleared after heavy snowfall, the roof heating system keeps critical areas clear.
The mats are simply laid on the roof membrane. They are UV-resistant, robust, and suitable for almost all roofing materials (bitumen, foil, gravel).

Never again frozen gutters

Frost protection is essential not only on the roof but also in the drainage system. A gutter heating system (often implemented as a heating tape or cable) ensures that meltwater can drain away freely at all times.
The result: No bursting downpipes and no icicles forming on the roof edge. This is particularly important above entrances and walkways (duty to ensure public safety).

Intelligent heating: Only when necessary

Many customers fear high electricity costs. However, modern roof heating systems don't run all winter long. Their efficiency is achieved through intelligent controls with humidity and temperature sensors (e.g., from Etherma ).

Here's how it works:
The heating only switches on when two conditions are met:
1. The temperature is below freezing (e.g. +3°C).
2. Moisture (snow/ice) is detected.
If it's only cold but dry, the heating stays off. This saves a massive amount of energy!
