Freestanding radiant heaters: Mobile warmth, maximum flexibility
If you need warmth exactly where you are standing or sitting, freestanding radiant heaters are the perfect choice. Unlike permanently installed wall-mounted units, these mobile heat sources offer maximum freedom: they require no professional installation, no drilling into the facade, and can be moved at any time. Whether on a restaurant patio with changing seating arrangements, in a private conservatory, or as supplemental heating in cool indoor spaces – simply plug it in and enjoy the warmth.
Design and technology for every requirement
Our product range includes various technologies for different applications. While classic gas patio heaters often require a lot of space, modern electric freestanding radiant heaters rely on a slim design and efficient infrared technology.
One example of the new generation is the Maui radiant heater (see image), which looks more like a modern floor lamp than a heater. But you'll also find robust models for unprotected outdoor areas, carbon heaters for gentle warmth, and powerful halogen units for instant heat in this category. The major advantage: Since the devices are not permanently installed, they can simply be stored in the basement or warehouse during the summer.
Safety first
Especially with stationary devices, stability is essential. Our high-quality models feature heavy bases for a low center of gravity and an automatic tip-over cutoff . Should the device be accidentally knocked over, the power supply is immediately interrupted.
Frequently Asked Questions about Patio Heaters (FAQ)
Here we answer the most important questions to make your selection easier.
How much electricity does an electric patio heater consume?
The costs are usually lower than expected. A 2000-watt (2 kW) device consumes exactly 2 kWh per hour at full power. With an average electricity price of approximately 35 cents/kWh, an hour of comfortable warmth therefore costs about 70 cents . Models with multiple heating levels can often be operated even more economically.
Can I leave any patio heater out in the rain?
No, that depends on the so-called IP protection class .
- IP20 / IP21: Mostly only for dry indoor spaces or covered conservatories (e.g., designer models for living areas).
- IP55 / IP65: These devices are protected against water jets and can easily be left uncovered outdoors in the rain (ideal for restaurants and open terraces).
What is the difference between carbon and halogen spotlights?
Halogen spotlights (shortwave): These generate instant, intense heat and emit a reddish-orange glow. They are ideal for windy outdoor areas because the heat does not dissipate.
Carbon heaters (medium wave): These produce a gentler heat and less visible light. They are perfect for sheltered areas such as conservatories or tent structures, as the heat is perceived as "softer".
Are patio heaters suitable for indoor use?
Yes, but not all models. Indoor devices must meet specific safety requirements. We carry specially designed freestanding radiant heaters that are safe and approved for use in living rooms, offices, or bathrooms, where they can serve as flexible supplemental heating.
