Wall-mounted radiant heaters: The permanent solution against the cold
When it comes to heating outdoor areas, wall-mounted radiant heaters are the absolute classic. Unlike portable floor-standing units, they don't take up any floor space – a crucial advantage on narrow balconies or in busy restaurants where every square meter is needed for tables and walkways. Once installed, they hang safely out of reach of children or guests and reliably deliver warmth at the touch of a button.
The right device for every application
Wall mounting allows for ideal heat distribution from an angled position above. Most of our brackets are tiltable, so you can direct the heat beam precisely where your guests are seated. Our product range features two main technologies:
- Short-wave infrared heaters (bright heaters): These devices are recognizable by their reddish or golden glow ("low glare" or "gold tube"). They provide instant heat that doesn't dissipate, even in windy conditions. Perfect for open, windy patios.
- Dark radiators: These devices emit no visible light (black light). They require a warm-up time of approximately 10–15 minutes and gently heat the air and objects. Ideal for sheltered loggias, conservatories, or interior spaces.

At what height should a wall-mounted radiant heater be installed?
The optimal mounting height depends on the device's power output. As a rule of thumb:
- Devices up to 1,500 watts: approx. 1.80 m to 2.10 m height.
- Devices from 2,000 watts: approx. 2.10 m to 2.50 m height.
Is a standard electrical outlet sufficient for the connection?
Yes, most wall-mounted radiant heaters up to 3,000 watts (3 kW) can be plugged into a standard 230V Schuko socket (standard household current). High-powered units (over 3 kW) often require a high-voltage connection or permanent wiring by a qualified electrician. Also, check that your circuit breaker is rated for the additional load.
Is it okay to leave the patio heater out in the rain?
You can recognize this by the so-called IP protection class. For permanent wall mounting in unprotected outdoor areas, we recommend devices with at least IP55 or IP65 (protected against water jets). Devices with IP20 or IP24 should only be installed under a roof (e.g., a balcony with a ceiling above) where they are protected from direct rain.
Can wall-mounted radiant heaters also be mounted on wood?
Generally, yes, but wood is a flammable material. Modern infrared heaters primarily radiate heat forward, so the back of the casing often doesn't get extremely hot. Nevertheless, manufacturers specify safety distances. If in doubt, use special spacers or heat shields to protect the wood from long-term drying or discoloration.
