Wasp control – Many houses, arbors, or garden sheds and the like often become shelters for wasps in early summer. Often unnoticed at first. But when the first days of May attract family and guests to the terrace or balcony and into the garden, the problem becomes obvious.
Furthermore, the rising temperatures, the drier summers and higher temperatures encourage the reproduction of wasps. And if a wasp nest has reached a certain size, you have a real issue. In the house or under cladding, wasps can not only be a nuisance, but can also cause lasting damage.
Wasps only become really annoying towards mid-summer or late summer when natural food sources become scarce. Then anything edible and drinkable with just a touch of sweetness is potential food for the entire nest.
So the rule applies: As soon as you have just the idea that something could be happening in the direction of a hornet's nest, you have to keep your eyes open and get to the root of the difficulty. Basically, wasps should be fought early in the morning or in the evening. The wasps are not very active at this time — there are many wasps in the nest and there are no nasty surprises from behind. - Heat sources and air currents: Avoid proximity to heaters or air conditioning, as these can reduce the trapping effect.
- Sensitive areas: In food processing areas: Use traps with adhesive foil instead of electrical grids.
- Maintenance: Choose easily accessible locations for installation and maintenance.
- Positioning in space:
Place traps at 90° angles to windows and doors to catch flying insects.
Ideally, install traps between potential entry points and the areas to be protected. - Installation height: The optimal height for most traps is approx. 2 meters.
