Unlike standard coatings, our shatterproof lights utilize an FEP (fluoroethylene propylene) shell. This material is UV-stable, age-resistant, and possesses excellent transmittance for germicidal UVC radiation (254 nm) as well as the UVA attraction effect (368 nm) for insecticides.

Does the splinter protection impair the effectiveness of insect killers?

When using high-quality FEP material, the loss of UVA transmission is negligible (less than 5%). The efficiency of pest control therefore remains virtually unchanged, while safety is significantly increased.

Can I retrofit regular UVC lamps myself with a protective film?

We strongly advise against this in professional settings. Our shatterproof lamps are already welded together at the factory under controlled conditions. Manual retrofitting does not guarantee complete containment of the shattered particles and, if the wrong material is used, can completely block UV-C radiation.
