Motion sensors for infrared heaters: Automatic heating & cost reduction
When someone enters the room, the heating switches on immediately. If the area is empty, the system switches off. The ideal solution for smoking areas, warehouses, garages, or passageways – save energy without lifting a finger.

Stop wasting energy!
Especially with high-performance infrared heaters (e.g., 2,000 watts), it can become expensive if the device is accidentally left running overnight. A sensor eliminates this risk completely. It acts as the "guardian" of your energy costs. Thanks to modern infrared technology (PIR), there is no warm-up time – the heat is available as soon as the sensor detects movement.
Perfect for areas with changing uses
1. Restaurants and hotels (smoking areas)
Guests come outside to smoke, stay for 5 minutes, and then leave. A sensor detects the guest, activates the heater , and switches it off again after a preset time (e.g., 2 minutes after departure). Convenience for the guest, savings for the proprietor.
2. Industrial warehouses
In large halls, often only the packing table needs to be heated when work is being carried out there. Sensors ensure precise zone heating without employees having to operate switches (hands-free).
3. Private area
Ideal for rarely used rooms such as hobby rooms, garages or guest toilets.
Tech check: Movement or presence?
There is a subtle difference between the sensors:
- Motion detector: Reacts to larger movements (walking). Ideal for hallways, outdoor areas or warehouses.
- Presence detector: It is much more sensitive. It detects even the slightest movements (e.g., typing on a keyboard). Ideal for offices or sedentary work.
Expert tip: The switching power (watts)
When buying a sensor, be sure to check its wattage rating! A small sensor for light (LED) often has a very low power rating. For an infrared heater, you need sensors with a high switching relay load (often 2,000W or 3,000W).
For large projects (multiple spotlights connected to one sensor), a contactor often needs to be installed. Ask us about this during the planning phase !
